A section of residents in Ruaka town, Kiambu County want the police to intensify security in the area.
The residents are complaining over alleged rise in criminal activities and want the police to act.
Speaking on Sunday, the residents alleged rise in criminal activities within Ruaka town. They alleged existence of a criminal gang that is terrorising them claiming that cases muggings and break-ins have risen up in the past three weeks.
“We are appealing to the Kiambu county government to address the issue of security and deal with criminal gangs causing as sleepless nights,” said Marion Wanjiru, a business woman within the area.
Wambui said that the Ruaka town centre has become insecure adding that police need to intensify security.
The business woman claimed that despite their several complaints to the area police over the matter no action has been taken.
Nahashon Kamau, a student at a private university in the area said insecurity is becoming a problem.
Kamau claims that two of his colleagues were mugged by unknown people on Thursday night at their laptops stolen.
“It is serious and we want the government to intervene and arrest the culprits involved, many of us students are no longer feeling safe,” he said.
The residents now want the Kiambu county commissioner to address the matter urgently.
Speaking in a different function, County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo asked law enforcers not to entertain criminals.
Nkoyo directed the police to fight criminals ruthlessly and guarantee law and order in their respective areas.
