In this village, fuel is sold at a higher price than what is set monthly. This is after new fuel prices were announced and they were to be effective as from October 15.

Even some petrol stations in Kisii have not obeyed the rule as there is no ERC offices in this region nor its representatives to monitor the situation. Fuel is also sold in jericans, which is illegal as per the ERC rules.

Motorists have not yet felt the effect of the new prices as announced.

Businessmen have stuck to their initial cost, arguing that the older stock is still there thus they will encounter loses if they obeyed the ERC directives.

“I cannot sell these petroleum less than what I am selling at. I will lose! I will reduce my prices once I order for a new stock,” Faith Moraa, a petrol station owner in Menyinkwa village said.

This has also been accelerated by the few numbers of these fuel pumps in the outcasts of the town and demand by boda boda operators.
