Nakuru deputy governor Joseph Ruto has put on notice all contractors in charge of different county projects that they risk being kicked out if they fail to adhere to setup standards.

Speaking at Nakuru town's Biashara street on Thursday after touring the ongoing modern kiosk project that is almost complete, Ruto accused some contractors of taking advantage of county money by doing shoddy jobs.

“This is tax payers money aimed at improving the livelihoods of the people, nobody regardless of the position has the power to use it as they wish because every cent must be accounted for,” noted the deputy governor.

He noted that all CeC must make it a habit of regularly inspecting projects under their ministries to avoid cases of commissioning incomplete or substandard projects.

“We are not ready to work with professionals because we are professionals, let’s be serious with what we engage in less we become irrelevant in the eyes of the people,” he added.

He further took issue with non-performing cabinet executives saying that as bosses in their respective ministries, they had the mandate of prioritising development to avoid cases of blaming one another.

“Blame game should not be part of our vocabulary because all of us ought to visualise our development agendas at the end of our tenure. Let’s get working for a better Nakuru,” Ruto advised.

The deputy governor further called on the county tender’s board to ensure that tenders and contracts are awarded to companies that have past success histories to avoid cases of stalled projects.

Other than the modern kiosk project, the county is engaged in roads repair and flyover project in Mau Summit along the Nakuru-Kisumu road, long distance lorries parking lot at Salgaa, county polytechnic in Naivasha among others.
