Deputy President William Ruto has told county governments to invest more on infrastructure to spar economic development.

Speaking when he inspected development projects in Kapseret constituency on Saturday, Ruto said proper development on infrastructure will open investment doors for counties.

The DP said through good roads, housing and other developments, counties will be able to woe investors easily.

Ruto said the national government recognises that infrastructural development is key to economic growth.

He said the national government has initiated mega infrastructural development projects across the country with the aim of wooing investors and also improve service delivery to Kenyans.

“County governments must leverage on the resources they have and invest in proper road networks if they want to realise economic development,” he said.

Ruto said most government services have been devolved and that county governments must put in place proper plans on how to deliver services to Kenyans.

Ruto however said that though most functions have been devolved, the national government was ready to work with the devolved units where necessary.

The DP who was accompanied by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi said the national government will tarmac the Kesses-Lessos road.

He urged the Uasin Gishu County government to speed up road renovations in the region to ease transport and also enable farmers and business people access markets.
