Teachers who are members of the Gusii Mwalimu Sacco have been urged to embrace entrepreneurship to supplement their incomes.

The Sacco’s chief executive, Charles Omwansa told the tutors that starting businesses not only transforms their families' living standards, but is also a way of laying a fall back plan for their future after retirement.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com in his office on Friday, Omwansa said having teachers engaging in business creates employment opportunities for others in society and also improves standards of living among teachers and their families.

"It is not wrong for teachers to make investments alongside their official duties. This will not only empower them economically, but it also creates jobs for other members in society," stated Omwansa

He encouraged teachers to conduct a thorough market research to avoid investing in unsustainable business ventures.
