Gusii Mwalimu Sacco members have been taken through the Education for Members programme conducted by the Sacco management to empower them with knowledge and skills on personal finance management.
The Sacco's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Charles Omwansa, said education and training for members has been a central principle guiding the Sacco's mission and vision.
Speaking in his office on Thursday, Omwansa said through education and training for members, the management ensures members are empowered with knowledge, skills and confidence to participate in the governance of their Sacco.
"It is important for the Sacco management to commit adequate resources towards members education and training, since the Sacco's success depends on the ability of its members to govern and manage themselves successfully," said Omwansa.
The CEO said the contributions of the members who are knowledgeable and have the skills to perform their roles in the running of Sacco businesses was not only important to the sacco's success, but was equally beneficial to the members themselves as it translates to growth of the Sacco.
Omwansa identified personal finance management as one of the thematic areas covered by the members who were empowered with knowledge and skills on how they can prudently manage their personal finances for their benefit and their immediate family members.
"To achieve financial success, one needs to know and understand how to manage the moneys they have or get as loans from the Sacco,” said Omwansa.
