The High Court in Mombasa County has fined a Sacco after it was found guilty of contempt of court.
Imarika Sacco was fined Sh100,000 for failing to reinstate a former employee, Mr Moses Ponda, following a court ruling.
The court had last week issued an order stopping the Sacco from dismissing Mr Ponda from his position as a procurement officer.
Mr Ponda had filed the case suing the Sacco for wrongful dismissal and asked the court to order the Sacco to reinstate him.
Judge James Rika in his ruling had ordered the Sacco not to advertise, call for applications, conduct interviews or recruit anyone to fill the position of a procurement officer.
Judge Rika also issued an order for the Sacco to reinstate Mr Ponda back to his former position as a procurement officer.
The court heard that the Sacco, despite the court ruling, went ahead and advertised the position.
Judge Rika in his ruling found the Sacco guilty, saying it was wrong to disobey a court order and ordered it to pay a fine of Sh100,000.
