A 20-year-old man who had pleaded guilty on Thursday to sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl has denied the charges.
Leonard Kirui had pleaded guilty to the accusation on Thursday when he appeared before senior magistrate Doreen Mulekyo of Nakuru courts.
He, however, denied the charges on Friday before Judge Liz Gicheha when he appeared in court for the determination of his case.
Kirui told the court that he pleaded guilty on Thursday because he did not clearly understand the accusation that was before him.
“I plead not guilty to the accusation, yesterday I pleaded guilty because I did not clearly understand so after thinking about it I have decided to change my mind," he said
He is accused of defiling a 4-year-old girl in Salgaa area in Nakuru County on August 17 this year before he was later arrested by the police and charges opened against him.
Kirui has since been released on a bond of a Sh100,000.
The case will be heard on August 27 this year
