Speaking on Sunday at Kiogoro PAG, Samuel Apoko challenged the executive to increase the allocation from the current Sh3 million to Sh10 million, before he marshaled his counterparts to change the law to effect the demand.

He asked the James Ongwae led government to yield to the demands due to increasing pressure from electorates on the members of County Assembly.

“I would like to ask the Kisii County Government to increase the allocation to the ward without necessarily waiting for us to push them. We want real development at the local level, and this can only be effected through increased allocation,” he said.

“If he increases it from the current Sh3million to 10 million, then I think he will have a smooth ride in 2017. However, I will still marshal for support from MCAs to do it by law because many of our constituents believe that as MCAs we should do more,” said the controversial MCA.

His sentiments were supported by Sameta MCA Evans Siko, who accused elements within the county government who have been vehemently opposing the move.

“We know those inciting our governor not to comply with our request. MCAs are responsible people and therefore we need more money to initiate development in our villages,” he said.
