A pupil from Lanet primary school has sustained serious injuries after being hit by an over-speeding motorcycle at Lanet trading centre.
The 9-year-old girl was Friday crossing the road near Lanet Barracks, on the busy Nakuru -Dundori road when the motorcycle hit her. The girl, Milka Nyokabi, sustained head and back injuries and was admitted at Mediheal hospital where she is recovering.
Lanet police boss Paul Kuria said the motorcyclist presented himself and reported the incident.
Kuria added that motorcycles have become more dangerous than vehicles on the roads as they operate at high speeds.
He said milk vendors and boda boda operators are notorious for riding at high speeds. He warned them that risky riding will not be allowed on the roads.
He cautioned residents to be careful when using the roads, especially in the morning and evening.
Last week, a pregnant woman was hit by a motorcycle and died on the spot in Nakuru.
