A dormitory that had collapsed making a local institution to temporarily seek shelters for over 200 students has been fixed.
the over 200 students from former academic powerhouse Gekano High School were given a temporary shelter by a good Samaritan based in US in his modern mansion.
Speaking on Tuesday evening g during the official opening of the 2.5M new dormitory, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire challenged students and teachers of the onetime top performing school in the former Nyanza region to re-emerge after several years in academic darkness.
Bosire said he was keen to ensure all schools from his constituency were equipped to compete favorably with other leading institutions.
“I am yet to understand why our performance has deteriorated for many years now. We were at the same quality like Maranda High school in 80s and 90s but the institution has gone underground. I want to challenge both the teachers and students to reassess themselves and fix whatever that has not been going on well,” he said.
Bosire said he was also keen to support all top performing students in the constituency in case they get direct entry to institutions of higher learning.
“My intention to support our institutions in terms of equipping them is very evident. I won’t tire till I achieve equity in favorable learning environment. I want also to challenge students to work hard so that my administration supports you in institutions of higher learning through the CDF kitty,” he added.
Bosire is an alumnus of the institution and the institution’s performance has been worrying for years after failing to beat neighboring Nyambaria High in major tests.
