Nakuru County Senator Mr James Mungai has called on the county government to resolve nurses and doctors’ grievances saying the ongoing strike was unnecessary.
Mungai claimed that the county had enough money and power to solve the stalemate instead of allowing the medics to have frequent demonstrations.
In a telephone interview on Friday, Mungai pointed out that the deaths as a result of the current strike could have been prevented if the health department took the matter seriously.
“Enough money has been disbursed to cater for the issue of payment and the promotion of nurses and doctors. The county should stop postponing the issues being put on the table and solve them once and for all,” he added.
Mungai claimed that the devolution of the health sector was meant to improve the health services of the residents but currently it was affecting it.
“It is unfortunate that people are not receiving treatment in the hospitals yet to some that is the only facility they can afford,” he lamented.
Mungai also called on patients to embrace the health insurance schemes saying they could be ideal in such situations.
“With the insurance cover you can be able to access health in any facility which would ensure that you can be treated at any place and time,” he noted.
