Nyamira senator Mong’are Okong’o has expressed his interest to lead the delegation of five MPs from the county who had fallen out with the county leadership.
Governor John Nyagarama has been accusing the leaders, led by Mr Okong’o, of hampering development in the region by persistently faulting his development agenda.
Addressing youths from Borabu constituency at Damside Hotel on Sunday evening, the senator said he was willing to lead the delegation for a discussion for the common gain of ordinary citizens.
He said the alleged corruption, clanism and nepotism in the county government needed urgent redress for the sake of development in the region.
“My team is ready to engage in a dialogue for the sake of development. Corruption in the county is ripe, employment is based on who knows who and the weak qualified citizen has no chance to serve his or her county. That is what we are fighting and it needs an urgent redress,” he said.
Okong’o said the government side should get to the negotiation table without ‘preconceived’ solutions to the predicament that has literally thrown development in the county at a standstill.
“He (Nyagarama) can no longer say there is meaningful development in the region and he must be ready to listen to our views. We are elected leaders hence we know what our people needs. We have to get to negotiating table without rigid minds,” he added.
The senator said he has been in touch with MPs Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Charles Geni (North Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Dr James Gesami (West Mugirango) and women representative Alice Chae and all had confirmed their willingness to face the county leadership on a non-partisan ground and perception.
