Speaking from his office today, Kikuyu OCS Senior Inspector Joshua Arende said that the seven were arrested after they were found crossing the southern bypass with the flyover just on top of them.

He said that it was a crime to do so and they will be charged accordingly.

The OCS stated that those who were arrested were being ignorant of the road and their safety hence committing the offence.

Arende said residents should beware that flyovers are meant for pedestrians on such busy roads and they should not risk ignoring them.

He added that the Southern Bypass is a busy highway and in case one is hit for ignoring the rule; they will have nothing to claim.

“We want to send a warning to residents to avoid crossing the bypass and use the flyovers. It is for your own safety and police shouldn’t be the reason for you use it. You endanger your lives by committing the crime and also risk being jailed,” said the OCS.

He said the seven who included three women and four men would be charged in accordance to the law.
