Commercial sex workers who have flocked major shopping centres in Gatundu North Sub-County to 'reap big' from farmers' tea bonuses have been put on notice.

Speaking to journalists in his Igegania office on Tuesday, area OCPD Benjamin Mwasaha asked the sex workers to look for other viable business opportunities other than fleecing their clients' hard-earned cash.

"We have reports that there is an upsurge of women strangers in all the tea growing areas in the sub-county. We have requested all owners of lodgings to take details of their clients for easier follow up in case of anything,” said Mwasaha.

Mwasaha also warned tea farmers against carrying huge amounts of cash in their pocket saying that it is unwise and dangerous.

A number of tea factories in the area among them Mataara and Gachege have already announced that farmers will be receiving better bonuses as compared to last year.

Sex workers flock tea growing zones in the area whenever tea farmers are about to receive their bonuses in anticipation of 'making a big catch' from their often drunk and unsuspecting male clients.
