Uasin Gishu County government is determined to ensure residents have enough water supply which is accessible, Environment CeC has reaffirmed.
Speaking in her office on Monday the CEC in charge of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, Mary Njogu said that Uasin Gishu County through her ministry has rolled out a plan to ensure that at least each ward gets access to clean piped water.
She says this will go a long way in preventing them from contracting waterborne diseases such as typhoid and cholera.
"Uasin Gishu County through my ministry has set aside a Sh180 million for digging boreholes, construction of dams and provision of piped water to ensure that Uasin Gishu residents access to safe and clean water to prevent waterborne diseases," she said.
The environment CeC said that from the amount, each ward has been allocated Sh6 million while adding that the projects are already underway in the wards.
"I urge Uasin Gishu people to maintain cleanliness by ensuring that they use treated or boiled water to prevent diseases caused by water which can be easily prevented," she added.
