A section of residents from Shabab area are threatening to go to court over the construction of more than 50 kiosks at the Manyatta Roundabout.

The residents claim that they were not consulted when the construction started. The irate residents argue that the kiosks were affecting their visibility.

"We are currently collecting 10,000 signatures to enable us demolish the kiosks. We will also sue the county government for allowing their construction," said Stephen Wambugu a resident.

They claimed that drivers should be able to see all the sides of a roundabout.

"There is confusion already especially when giving way to other motorists. There are also increased accidents since the kiosks were put up two months ago," said Peter Mungai, another resident.

The residents were speaking to the press in Nakuru on Monday where they challenged the county to get rid of the kiosks.

"We are not against the construction of the kiosks but we want order in the town," said Emily Mwangi.

When contacted, area MCA Daniel Kamau accused the residents of fighting development.

"Let anyone who has issues with the construction come forward. No one has approached our office disagreeing with the project," he added.

Kamau claimed that a politician was behind the disagreement.

Nakuru Roads CeC engineer Samuel Mwaura declined to comment on the issue as he was, allegedly, in a meeting.
