Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Molo after a five-year-old boy was murdered and his body dumped in a maize farm.

Joseph Kariuki’s body was found on Wednesday in Tombo Farm, Molo Sub-County after he went missing on Sunday.

Confirming the incidence Molo OCPD Mr Job Lesinkwa said police have launched investigation to know who committed the heinous crime.

“Police have started investigation to know the motive behind the killing of the boy,” said Lesinkwa.

Lesinkwa said that the minor had no injuries and called members of public to help unravel the people behind the murder.

“The boy's body had no injuries and we are yet to know the cause of the death or motive behind it,” said Lesinkwa.

Addressing angry residents at the scene of crime, Lesinkwa urged parents to be careful with their children.

“Parents should not neglect their parental roles as negligence will led to occurrences of such unexpected incidences,” said Lesinkwa.

Monica Wangari, the mother to the boy said that her son went missing on Sunday evening and the family and neighbours mounted a search until Wednesday when they recovered the body dumped in a maize farm.

“When Kariuki failed to return home on Sunday, I mobilised neighbours for a search until yesterday when we found the body dumped in a maize farm,” said Wangari.

Residents are now calling the police to increase their vigilance to enhance security.
