Police in Uasin Gishu County have arrested six people who allegedly attacked and injured Chepsaita Assistant Chief Mr Johana Kisorio a week ago during a raid on a suspected brewing den.

Addressing journalists on Thursday in Eldoret Town, County Commissioner Abdi Hassan said the six will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

He said the suspects had gone into hiding after the attack but were cornered by police on Thursday.

“We have arrested six suspects who allegedly attacked Chepsaita Assistant Chief and we will take them to court once investigations are completed,” he said.

Mohammed warned brewers against attacking chiefs and local leaders leading the raids against illicit brews.

“Anyone who attacks a chief or any other leader spearheading the crackdown on illicit brews will have him or herself to blame,” he said.

The Chepsaita assistant chief was attacked while leading a raid on suspected brewers at Kamara estate in Turbo Constituency.

The chief who was in company of area elders was hit with a blunt object leaving him with injuries on his right leg.
