Six motorists have been arrested after they were found with expired licenses following a traffic crackdown along Kiambu Road.
Speaking on Wednesday in Kiambu, the traffic base commander, inspector Gabriel Mulei said that the six were arrested after they were found with expired licenses.
He added that despite his warning towards the issue, some motorists were still defying the law.
Inspector Mulei stated that most motorists in the area had expired licenses hence forcing the police to launch the crackdown.
He mentioned that such motorists have in the past caused accidents and escaped because they know they are not worth being on the road.
The traffic commander said that renewing licenses is cheap and easy.
He firther said that motorists who break this law were simply being ignorant of the law and were risking arrest.
Mulei urged bodaboda Saccos to ensure everyone within their Sacco has a valid license.
He explained that Sacco chairmen should call for immediate meetings to inspect and ensure all motorists have licenses that are valid.
"The six will be charged in accordance to the law. However, we are still going to continue with our crackdown just to ensure the road users are on the right side of the law," said Mulei.
Noel Njuguna, a bodaboda operators' chairman, said that most of those who are breaking the rules were operating without any Saccos.
However, he said that a meeting will be held on Saturday in regard to the same to ensure all motorists registered with Saccos in the area have valid documents.
