The yearly Agricultural Show of Kenya (ASK) for the Southern Nyanza region held at the Gusii show ground in Kisii town officially opened on Thursday.
The show that is themed to show the residents of the region how to embrace the new technology in farming and industrialization so as to produce more food and cash crops for development.
The event has so far attracted more than one hundred and fifty companies which will show case their services to the people.
Speaking on Thursday when he officially opened the A.S.K. show, Nyamira county governor John Nyagarama said that Kenyans should closely and quickly embrace the use of modern technology in farming and food production to ensure they receive maximum yields and of high quality.
Nyagarama said that we all have the responsibility of developing our counties and our country noting that such activities are aimed at improving the living standards of the people by educating them and enlarging their scope of thinking.
“Let us all be involved in this so that we learn new methods of production and new technological approaches in the various things we do,” he said.
He also said that devolution should be supported by all Kenyans noting that it has brought a lot of development to Kenyans and more especially in the agricultural sector.
