Soy MP has challenged youths in the constituency to apply for  Uwezo Funds and venture into business.

Addressing youths at Soy market on Thursday, Edwin Barchilei noted that constituency youths are reluctant to apply for government funds.

He said very few youths have applied for the Uwezo Fund since it was unveiled two years ago.

The MP said it will be difficult for unemployment to be addressed if young people are not willing to apply for funds.

He challenged the youths to seek the funds and start farming ventures adding that the farming sector is ideal for youths if they want quick and high returns.

“Young people should stop complaining and instead take advantage of the government funds to start business,” he said.

The Soy MP also encouraged women and persons living with disabilities to also seek the funds.

He said the Uwezo Fund will help empower the marginalised groups in the area.

The Soy lawmaker also urged the national and the county government to allocate more funds for empowerment of marginalised groups.

He pledged to work with marginalised groups in the constituency to promote development.
