Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Justin Muturi has described as disgusting pronouncements by a section of Cord leaders during its teachers’ solidarity rally at Uhuru Park last Wednesday.

He advised the leaders to watch their utterances as they cannot afford to be reckless.

Muturi who was speaking on Sunday during a fundraiser in aid of Naish Vision Secondary School in Njoro Sub-County also asked the opposition Senators and MPs to behave in a disciplined manner if they expect young Kenyans to emulate them.

‘I am totally ashamed with the way some of our senators and MPs are behaving, they are tarnishing the image of both houses,” he said.

Mr Muturi also confirmed that he has received a motion from Budalangi MP to have MPs salaries slashed by half to cater for teachers pay award.

“We are ready to have the bill brought to the floor so that members can debate it. All members are free to bring in a motion in the house,” he added.
