Vulnerable children from Kerina ELCK Special School for the Deaf in Kisii South Sub-county have a reason to smile, after a local NGO, Sacred Centre for Widows and Orphans came to their rescue through foodstuffs donation.
The NGO's Chairman, Samson Nyandoro disclosed he had received information that the children were lacking adequate food supplies, and had to organize for a foodstuffs donation through his NGO, to ensure the children's learning programmes are not disrupted due to lack of food.
Speaking at the school during the presentation of the foodstuffs to the children by the area deputy County Commissioner, Charles Mbugshe, the Chairman called on other well-wishers to come to the aid of the children to have them continue learning without interruption.
"As an NGO, we thought it wise to come to the aid of these children who are vulnerable since they are within the segment of the members of the society that our NGO targets for assistance,” stated Nyandoro.
The Deputy County Commissioner commended Sacred Centre for Widows and Orphans for the gesture, and challenged other NGOs working on the ground to emulate the NGO's efforts to transform the living standards of the less fortunate in the society through the funding they get.
The NGO's Secretary, Robert Gutwa appealed to the local CDF committee and the Kisii County Government to consider assisting the school, which he said lack conducive learning facilities, making it difficult for the children who are challenged to enroll in the school.
