The Senate has been asked to specify roles for deputy governors to avoid confrontation between the County chiefs and their deputies.
Speaking to Hivisasa at the Kisumu Senate offices at Milimani, Kisumu Senator, Anyang' Nyong'o's personal assistant Babu Karan said that confrontation between Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and his deputy Ruth Odinga are due to lack of specification of roles and duties for Ruth Odinga.
Karan asked the senate to specify roles for deputy governors to reduce the level confrontations and misunderstandings between the two county bosses.
"The constitution stipulates that the Deputy Governors are to assume office as acting governors in the event that the governors are absent or maybe dead. This is not a major role as one cannot be paid to wait till the governor is absent in any way for her to work,"he said.
He says that deputy governors need to be given roles in the day-to-day management of the county for them to be relevant and productive in the county government.
"I believe that if Ruth Odinga is given specified roles or even a ministry to be in charge of, there will be less confrontations between her and Ranguma," said Karan.
