Speaking to the press on Tuesday morning at the Kisumu County speaker’s office, SRC vice chairman Daniel Ogutu said that exercise was part of the program launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We have already completed the exercise in seven counties. We are in the second round of another seven counties that is Kisumu, Kilifi, Nairobi, Nyeri, Narok, Nandi and Machakos," he said.

Ogutu said that 80 percent of state corporations have been evaluated and that now the commission is focusing on counties.

"We are glad we have had support and cooperation. After the job evaluation we should be able to enhance productivity," he said.

SRC vice chairman said that it would enhance motivation for government employees to put in their best.

Ogutu said the commission would evaluate jobs and not individuals contrary to perceptions of some members of the public.

He said other SRC commissioners are leading a similiar exercise in other counties.

Commissioner Oloo Aringo, former minister for Education, accompanied him.
