Mr Oribo Kinyosi says the situation is worrying if not handled well by the county administration and other stakeholders.

Speaking to HiviSasa on Friday in his office, Oribo called for urgent measures to ensure there are rehabilitation strategies to avert the possibility of them posing a security threat to town residents and visitors.

"It is worrying that street children are coming up alongside street families whose future is not assured and the county government cannot wish the challenge away without coming up with a long term solution," said Kinyosi

Kinyosi revealed that the Probation department was looking for land to establish a rehabilitation centre and a home for the children to ensure they are moulded into responsible citizens.

"Everybody counts and must be looked at as useful in whichever the circumstances they are in. As a community we have a duty to identify the positive aspects of the street children we see around to transform them into responsible future citizens," he said.
