A civil rights activist in Kisumu has called on form four leavers and university students on holiday to help students preparing to sit for their end of year exams in revision.

Mr Joel Onyancha said on Wednesday that school leavers currently at home can help coach candidates preparing to sit for the end of year examinations as teachers stay away from work.

Students in public schools have not been able to return to school because of a teachers strike that has paralysed learning across the country.

The teachers are on strike following government's failure to award them a salary rise recently given by the Court of Appeal.

“Am calling on young people to go to their former schools and assist these children with revision”, said Nyachae.

He spoke after an organisation in Central Kenya mobilised school leavers to help students in revision as exams close in.

Ahadi Trust Kenya offered to mobilise form four leavers and university students on holiday to teach in public schools as teachers stay at home following a strike called by the Kenya  National Union of Teachers and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers.
