A spot check in most the schools in Kisumu County shows that student turnout was low with most classrooms empty.

The few who attended classes held group discussions especially those waiting to sit their national exams scheduled for October to November.

One of the senior teachers at Lions High School who sort anonymity said that they had completed the course syllabus. One of the students interviewed said that the teachers’ strike has hampered their learning considering they are about to sit for the national examinations.

The Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) Acting Provincial Librarian Julius Ambala said that students are utilising the library saying it has a conducive environment for learning.
