Two Maseno University students have sued a landlord for allegedly receiving money from the students and not giving them a room.

The students, Ednah Wafula and Joyce Wamboi, all 2nd year students, opted to resolve the dispute in court after the landlord was not able to secure them a room and not able to refund the money they had paid.

The two claimed to have paid rent amounting to Sh16, 000.

The landlord is said to be the owner of Maseno Wisdom Corner House, where the two students said they booked a room.

“She keeps telling us to come after some time which has never been the case. We demanded that she returns the rent we had paid so that we secure a room elsewhere but she refused, saying once one has paid rent there is no refunding. She keeps on fooling us yet she has rented out all the rooms she has got and has used the money we have given her,” said Wafula.

They recorded statements at Maseno Police Station.

The case is expected to be heard in court on Friday.

Efforts to reach the landlord bore no fruits and her call went unanswered.
