Landlords in Car Wash area of Migosi have warned their tenants against subletting their houses to students from Maseno University saying it has led to vandalism.

Migosi Landlords' Association chairperson Amos Weke speaking on Tuesday morning at Car Wash Migosi estate appealed to the tenants to take good care of the houses they were living in.

He said most landlords have complained of a high rate of house vandalism by their tenants reiterating the need for tenants to take care of their property.

He further said that tenants needed to honour tenancy agreements to ensure they are not penalised.

“Let’s learn to take good care of property, by being responsible and not promoting vandalism, which makes houses look so outdated and unattractive," he lamented.

Weke emphasised that it was important for the tenants to have good relations with the landlords by protecting their property and submitting rent on time.

His counterpart, Billy Wasonga also from the association noted that incidences of house vandalism and subletting was rampant in the area saying that it would not be tolerated since it was against agreed terms.

Wasonga asked the county government to construct more hostels for students to reduce the high rate of illegal subletting that overstretched resources in the private establishments.
