A middle aged man has been charged in an Eldoret court with the killing of veteran Eldoret based journalist, John Kituyi.
The suspect, Nicholas Kavili was arraigned in court on Thursday and charged with robbery with violence and killing Kituyi at Pioneer estate in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County on April 30, this year.
The suspect was also charged with stealing items valued at Sh 10, 300 from the deceased. Appearing before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the suspect denied the charges. The suspect was released on Sh 500,000 bond.
The court ordered that the case be mentioned on August 6 and heard on September 10 this year. Kituyi a veteran journalist was killed by unknown gunmen in April.
His killing attracted condemnation from media organizations and activists.
