Two men were on Wednesday arraigned in a Nakuru court to answer to theft charges.
The court heard that on June 21, 2012 at around 2.00 am in Baraka Estate within Nakuru County, the accused Leonard Kimutai and David Mbugua with others not in court broke into the house of the complainant Jepther Maringo and stole a car and other property worth Sh1.3 million.
The complainant told Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo that the accused were armed with crude weapons that they used to assault him and his family members.
“I heard someone bang the door to my Room at around ten thirty in the night. Before I knew it they had already broken in and started attacking us while others frisked the house and they later left in my car,” he said.
He also claimed that he suffered a serious head injury and one of his sons broke his arm as he sought for safety during the incident.
The accused have however denied the charges and want the case against them withdrawn.
The case will be heard on September 17.
