The incident took place at a building known as Tank Building that accommodates two shops and rental houses. According to Maseno OCS Bernard Lang'at, the suspects broke into the building on Sunday morning while the occupants were attending a church service.

“We received reports that there was a break in, and I can now confirm to you that the owners have lost property valued at around Sh100,000. At the moment we are trying to ascertain which items are missing,” said OCS Lang'at.

Among the stolen items include three Television sets, two decoders, electric cookers, and shop goods among other items. Lang'at said police are working with eye witnesses to ensure the suspects are apprehended as it is believed that they are from the area.

The OCS faulted the occupant of the building for not taking safety of their house seriously; they are believed to have left the main door wide open.

He took the opportunity to caution other occupants. “If you have to leave home just ensure that security measures are in order so that you don’t encounter what our friends here have encountered," said OCS Lang'at.

According to some of the occupants, the area has been secure and the Sunday theft incident was a surprise to them.

“Some of us might have assumed that we are always safe judging from the past,” said Agnes Auma who lost an electric cooker following the robbery incident.
