Two men from Kisumu who allegedly stole their employers’s property worth Sh150,000 appeared before a Kisumu court to answer to the charges.

Vitalis Chimoni and Lukas Ogolla employed by Garden Wholesalers based in Kisumu denied the charges of theft when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Catherine Owino.

Magistrate Owino remanded them for the next one week following the request by the prosecution desk which said investigations into the matter are yet to be completed.

According to the prosecution desk, the two used to work at the wholesale since 2012 and they are said to have committed the offence on diverse dates between January and July this year.

The court heard that the two used to give customers half the supplies, and sold the rest to other markets.

Their behaviour was discovered on July 25 this year when a customer complained that for a long time he was not receiving the value for his money.

The management conducted an internal investigation where flaws were discovered.

Police were notified about the activities of the two after which they launched investigations. It is believed that there might be more items stolen and it was the reason the prosecution desk objected the accused's bail application.

Ogolla and Chimoni were arrested on August 1, 2015, following the investigation. They are expected back in court on August 13, 2015.
