Murisho Juma, however, denied the charges before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Lucy for the offences allegedly committed in June 22 this year in Kisumu.

The court heard that the accused was arrested in Kisumu while allegedly stealing electricity cables belonging to the Kenya Power.

The accused who is believed to have gained access into the country through an illegal point of the border was accused of stealing the cables in Nyamasaria during a repair process that was being carried out by Kenya Power staffs.

He was arrested and taken to the Nyamasaria Police Post where upon interrogation, he revealed that he was not a Kenyan and he did not have any document allowing his stay in the country.

The Prosecution Desk asked the court to deny him bail as he might run away from the country in the course of the trial. Murisho in his objection told the court that he was ready to attend all the trial sessions as he had nothing to hide adding that he is committed to clearing his name.

After establishing that the accused had a place to stay in Kisumu, Gitari granted him a bail of Sh5,000 with a similar surety and ordered him to be reporting at the Kisumu’s Central Police Station every Monday in the course of the trial. The case will be heard in July 26, 2015.
