The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Commissioner Mr Cleophas Tirop has urged teachers to embrace quality while offering education services, and should not be money oriented as this affects the end product of their work.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Tirop said that teachers should act as role models by being disciplined, and to offer quality education to students despite their pay.

“Money has made the quality of education deteriorate day in day out since with a few coins, one is able to betray his/her profession to an extent of giving out a certificate to a student and yet the person did not sit for any exam, putting the quality of education at risk,” he said

He warned teachers who are not performing that their days are numbered, further adding that it hurts to always be in the media for not producing good results and yet you are paid to do so.

“Head teachers in all institution should supervise their staff by making sure they work according to the standards put in place, and appraisal will only come after good performance and that will not be compromised, any teachers who will not perform in three consecutive years should be transferred,” he added.
