A 19-year-old on Wednesday denied stealing a mobile phone before a Kisumu law court for the offence he is said to have committed on September 10, 2015.
Philip Ongoro is said to have stolen the mobile phone from his employer in Kisumu’s Milimani estate by breaking into her house.
The court heard that, Ongoro, a gardener, gained access into the house by breaking a window grill and stealing the Samsung S6 mobile phone that was charging.
During the break, the employer, Loise Aketch, was not at home as she had gone to get supplies from the market. However, Ongoro told chief magistrate Esther Maina that the house was open, and he had gone to get some food and the employer had given him room to be accessing the house.
He said that his employer had lost her phone elsewhere and she was looking for somebody to blame. Maina however asked Ongoro to keep his defence as time will come to defend.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh5,000 pending the hearing on January 27 next year.
