A 19-year-old teenager on Monday denied robbery charges facing him before a Maseno resident magistrate court.
Newton Okemo had appeared before Maseno resident magistrate Philip Oilo facing charges of breaking into a house in Maseno without authority and making away with property worth Sh10,000.
He is alleged to have committed the offence on August 22, 2015.
According to the prosecution, the accused gained access into the house of Mary Ocholla while she was away. He is said to have gained access into the house by breaking a window grail.
Okemo is accused of stealing a decoder and a mobile phone, all amounting to sh10, 000.
Ocholla is said to have been notified about the break in by a neighbour who allegedly saw Okemo getting out of the house. Ocholla immediately rushed home and notified the police about what had transpired.
The police managed to arrest Okemo and recovered the stolen items from his house.
Okemo was released on a cash bail of Sh5,000 pending the hearing of the case on January 14 next year.
