Uasin Gishu County Speaker Isaac Terer has challenged Members of County Assembly (MCA) to draft Bills and laws that will transform the living standards of the people.
Speaking at Langas in Kapseret constituency on Wednesday, Terer said that MCAs have the power and mandate to transform the living standards of the people through proper laws.
He said that the challenges facing the people can be easily addressed through proper laws.
The Uasin Gishu Speaker said that the role of MCAs is to formulate and pass laws at the county level.
He said that areas like health, education, trade need appropriate laws if the county is to transform in terms of development.
“I challenge Uasin Gishu MCAs to come up with Bills and policies that will help the people get the required services from the government,” he said. The Speaker further urged the MCAs to supplement the county government on development.
He said that MCAs are the people who interact with the public frequently and should use the opportunity to present people’s problems to the county government. Terer said that the county is on the right path in terms of policy formulation.
He added that the county assembly will work with the county executive to spearhead development. Terer warned that disunity and wrangles between the assembly and county executives will derail development if not checked.
