Thika West Sub-County Bodaboda Association will on Friday launch a campaign to educate members on the need to pay taxes levied by the county government of Kiambu.
The announcement was made on Monday by Johanna Kimani, the chairman of the association in a meeting with members in Thika Stadium after a notice was issued by the Kiambu County Finance CeC on September 19.
"The intention of the exercise is to ensure all the operators comply with the daily payment of Sh20 that the county government has imposed all bodaboda operators in the county," he said.
Kimani says Kiambu is the second county after Murang’a that is levying the lowest amount to the operators and asked the over 20,000 operators in the county to comply and shun propaganda he says is orchestrated by individuals who are inciting the operators not to pay the levy.
"I represent you well, since this is a directive from the county heads, let us all comply to avoid day to day wrangles with the local administrators. Sh20 a day is little compared to the services the county has established," he said.
