Makongeni, Pilot and UTI residents in Thika Town will have to wait until Feb 28, 2016, to fully enjoy a new road being constructed in the area.

This was said by Thika Town MP Alice Ng'ang'a through her personal assistant Kang’ethe Mwangi on Friday morning from his office.

Speaking on behalf of the legislator,  Kang'ethe said that he had been personally assessing the progress of the works on a daily basis and was satisfied with the quality of the work done so far.

He noted that they won't allow contractors to be rushed into doing a shoddy job.

"Upon completion, it will have a lifespan of about 20 years and thus it will take time before its repaired again contrary to how it has been before," he said.

The road stretching from Munene Industries Ltd to the UTI junction has been under construction for the last four months and according to Kang’ethe, it will cost the taxpayers Sh60 million.

He added that the MP had also helped Munyu region to start Agribusiness projects through irrigation.
