Thika West Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Jeremiah Gicheru has warned Thika bar and night clubs owners against recruiting under age children.
He also warned wines and spirits owners still supplying second generation alcohol saying he will not relent in the fight and will ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
Speaking in Thika Town on Tuesday, Gicheru said he had received several tip offs by concerned citizens, stating that dens of counterfeit liquor are still operating in Thika especially in Ngoingwa, Kiandutu, Kiganjo and Athena.
Gicheru said he had arrested some perpetrators who are waiting to be arraigned in court and he plans to launch a crackdown in the named areas.
He said he had deployed undercover police officers to those areas and once they gather sufficient evidence, they will crack the whip to apprehend those selling and supplying the brew.
“I have my men who are investigating the dens to understand where the brew is coming from or who is the supplier of the killer sip,” said Gicheru.
He further revealed that he has revoked licenses of bars and restaurants selling alcohol to minors, and pledged to be more vigilant as we approach the festive season.
The deputy commissioner however lauded the county government of Kiambu for their support in eliminating crime and drug abuse in the region.
He urged Kiambu leaders to sensitise residents on the importance of community policing in a bid to enhance security and better life for the people of Thika.
