A legislator has asked youths to apply for Identification Cards (IDs) and register as voters in the just launched mobile registration exercise in Thika.
Addressing her constituents on Friday, Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a urged youths to participate in the exercise as their democratic right during the next general election adding that they shouldn't let President Kenyatta down.
She said that it is a good opportunity for those who do not have IDs as they will get a chance to pick the document and the voters card at the same time in the exercise launched by Thika west sub-county commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru.
Ng'ang'a further called upon those that that applied earlier and have not collected them to do so to acquire the voters' card. She said a lot of the cards have been lying uncollected in the Thika Town offices and some had already been disposed of.
"Most of you have been living without ID cards and this is a perfect opportunity for you to acquire them at your door steps. Let's not lose this chance we have been offered and pick the cards as well as voters' cards," she insisted.
She said that those that have been saying that there are long queues at the registration offices and long distances have a chance to take upon the exercise near them.
