Public school heads in Thika West Sub-County whose schools are not yet registered with the County Education Board (CEB) based in Kiambu Town have been asked to do so before the November 2015 deadline.
Speaking in his Thika office on Wednesday, the sub-county Quality and Standards Assurance Officer John Kariuki said that the CEBs were established to keep track of all schools operating in every county.
"The board plays the supervisory role and monitors the activities of schools within the county,” said Kariuki.
Kariuki noted that the registration was essential as it would enable the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to counter-check and verify the number of schools that had registered candidates for national examinations.
"This will reduce cases of candidates missing to sit for their examinations because their schools were not registered,” said Kariuki.
The officer noted that many new public schools had come up within the sub-county and they were yet to register with the board.
He said private schools did not have to register again as they were registered when they were being issued with the operations certificate.
