She has, however, accused the public service vehicles (PSVs) drivers of contravening the laws and making it hard for the traffic department to settle the ongoing traffic congestions on Thika roads.

She noted that the rise of accidents in the area has been caused by careless and speeding PSVs which have caused a huge number of deaths for the last one week.

Speaking when she led the traffic officers and NTSA officers in conducting an inspection along the Garissa road where accidents have increased recently, the officer said that she is on the verge and she will not relent anymore and watch as innocent lives die.

The traffic commander said that all rogue drivers and conductors will be dealt with according to the law and their licences revoked as they should be doing what is right to protect the pedestrians and passengers from any harm while driving.

“We are closely working with NTSA and other relevant authorities to deal with rogue motorists. We launch the inspection on Garissa road this weekend and we extend to her roads around,” she said.

During the inspection, over 17 vehicles were impounded and their operators detained and are to be arraigned in court today.
