A section of Ting'ang'a residents have expressed concern over deteriorating security in the area.
They have also accused the police of laxity in enhancing security.
Speaking on Thursday at Ting'ang'a Shopping Centre, the residents said that the level of insecurity has gone up and they are now living in fear of losing their property and lives.
“Hardly a day passes without a crime incidence," said Sophia Wambui, a resident.
She said the latest incident occurred last night where two shops were broken into and all items stolen.
Confirming the incident, Ting'ang'a Nyumba Kumi Chairman Peter Kamau said that crimes have increased and urged the residents to cooperate in curbing the menace.
“We have been experiencing a rise in crimes where several residents have lost their property and some have sustained injuries," said Kamau.
Kamau called on the residents to provide information to those committing crimes in a bid to have them arrested.
“Residents should provide information to police so that stern action can be taken against thieves," said Kamau.
He also called on the provincial administration to beef up the security.
“The chief should also help in enhancing security by ordering night patrols," said Kamau.
