A traffic police officer who is to be charged with robbery with violence has been remanded until Monday to allow completion of investigations.
Peter Mathiru was charged on three accounts of robbery by using pistol to threaten the complainants before robbing them of their possessions.
Mathiru jointly with others used an offensive weapon and robbed on July, 15 at Salgaa in Nakuru Titus Kiplagat of a motor vehicle; Mitsubishi lorry valued at Sh 9,000,000 which was loaded with 1994 pieces of computer valued at Sh 15,691,200, 1,438 pieces of mobile phones valued at Sh 35,283, 937, assorted garments valued at Sh 9,661,365, a techno mobile phone valued at Sh 3,000 and cash money Sh 2,200. All the property at estimated valued of Sh 69, 641,702.50
According to the police, the suspect with others all in traffic police uniform at 6:45pm stopped the lorry, they told the complainant and his assistant that he was over speeding.
They were ordered to enter into another car and told driver told to drive to unknown place where the lorry was parked and off loaded to another lorry.
They were abandoned and they later found their way out at around 4:30am.
Mathiru was arrested on Monday morning at his home at Ngorika in Olkalou and brought to CID offices in Nakuru for investigations and to record his statements.
On second account of the same charge, on the same day at Salgaa, Mathiru allegedly robbed Abdi Fara off a mobile phone valued at Sh 6,000, cash money Sh 1,600, a national identity card and a Eldoret airport gate pass.
He also robbed Abdishukri Alinur a mpbile phone make Samsung S3 valued at Sh 2,300, a national identity card, National Bank ATM card, employment card and Sh 5, 000 cash.
State prosecutor, Hillary Songoyo said that the accused be remanded till Monday for the investigations to be completed.
Mathiru denied the charges before Chief Magistrate, Doreen Mulekyo and was remanded at Menengai Police Station till Monday to allow completion of investigations.
