Turbo Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Elisha Busienei has supported Ugenya MP David Ochieng's  Bill that proposes to move the general elections from  the second Tuesday of August to third Monday of December.

Addressing the public at Turbo shopping centre on Sunday, Busienei said that holding the next general elections in August will interrupt many activities including learning in schools.

He said that the August date as outlined in the constitution is not appropriate and needs to be changed.

“I am in support of the Bill that seeks to change the date of the general election from August to December,” he said.

Busienei asked other legislators to support the Bill that has been proposed by the Ugenya Member of Parliament.

The legislator said the Bill proposing to change the date will provide an appropriate environment for Kenyans to take part in the elections.

Busienei lashed out at Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga for allegedly opposing the Bill.

The Turbo MP said that the interests of Kenyans should be considered in the matter adding that majority of Kenyans would prefer to have the elections in December and not August.

A section of parliamentarians  have said that they will support the Bill and have the elections pushed to December and not August as stated in the constitution.
