Two people were on Tuesday fined by a Nakuru court for being found in possession of chang'aa and allegedly selling it secretly.
Lucy Wairimu and Emanuel Inea were found with three litres of chang'aa each on August 3, in Njoro Sub-County.
According to the prosecution, the two were caught after a tip off from members of the public that they were selling chang'aa despite the ongoing crackdown against illicit liquor.
They were apprehended at different locations and detained at the Njoro Police Station before being arraigned in court.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, they pleaded guilty and pleaded that the court forgives them saying that they would not repeat the mistake again.
"I prayed that the court forgives me, I will not do it and as now I will find another way of sustaining my family," said Wairimu.
State prosecutor Hillary Songoyo urged the court to treat them as first offenders saying they did not have any previous records of arrest.
Wairimu was fined Sh20,000 or spend two months in jail and Inea was fined Sh25,000 or serve a similar time in prison.
